Skin needling is known to be a great way to remedy scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. While initial results can be satisfyingly dramatic, you do need patience and commitment to get the best skin you deserve. For best results, it usually takes more than one session for the effects to really be noticeable.
Fortunately, it is generally safe to do the treatment over and over again—as long as you give your skin enough time to fully recover between sessions.
But just how much time is enough? This is a question our clients often ask us at The Temple Skincare & Spa.
Skin needling is known to help with:
It is best to schedule an appointment for Specialist Services (scroll down the list to book) so that our trained specialists can walk you through the procedure and a treatment plan to fit you.

As a general rule, a skin needling treatment can be done safely every six to eight weeks. But this will still ultimately depend on your specific condition. Why the wait time between sessions?
While generally safe, the treatment involves stimulating your skin to prompt it to produce new elastin and collagen. This response is what causes your skin to thicken and become more plump, making scars, fine lines, and wrinkles less visible.
Scheduling time between sessions gives your skin the time it needs to respond to treatment. While results are not immediate, you should notice a difference to the way your skin looks after a couple of weeks.
Most people would categorise the feeling experienced during a skin needling session as mild discomfort rather than full-on pain. A good therapist will offer numbing cream to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
The benefit of this is you get to relax in peace while the numbing cream takes effect. It is like a mini-meditation session at Temple!

Immediately after, your skin will feel mildly raw and red — do not be alarmed, this is your skin’s normal and natural reaction to the procedure. For most people, recovery from the redness caused by a skin needling session takes anywhere between 12 and 48 hours. The feeling of ‘hot skin’ usually subsides as well over this amount of time.
During the recovery period, you can expect your skin to show mild redness, inflammation, and possibly some pinpoint bleeding and bruising. Your skin is unlikely to hurt any more than a mild sunburn.
Experts recommend you use hyaluronic acid right after the procedure. Protect your skin with a hat and a zinc-based sunblock (avoid oil-based products completely) until it goes back to feeling normal.
In terms of physical recovery, you should feel fine after your skin-needling treatment. There will be no need for a rest and you can go about your day as usual.
Some clients notice scabbing after skin needling. This is a normal outcome and it can be gently exfoliated after three or four days. Talk to your Temple therapist for their recommendations.
The number of skin needling sessions you need ultimately depends on your specific condition, the results you want to see, and how well you respond to the treatment.
If you just want to up your collagen production, for example, then around three sessions should be enough. For scarring, up to six sessions may be required.
The good news is that in most cases, patients report seeing some results after the very first session. It’s the full effects of the treatment that typically take months to become visible. When they do, you may find your friends comment that you look ‘well’ or ‘great’.
As the saying goes, “People will notice but nobody will know!”
The short answer is yes. The treatment works for most healthy individuals.
You should, however, hold off on having the procedure if you have any skin lesions or active pimples to keep them from getting worse. Your Temple therapist may recommend another treatment, depending on your desired outcome. Have a chat to them ahead of your appointment if you’re not sure if skin needling is right for you.
As in most cases, consulting our team of highly-trained specialists will help in deciding the best treatment plan, procedure and frequency of treatment that is customised to your skin and goals.

No serious side effects have been reported in more than 150,000 skin needling treatments performed across the globe.
However, it’s still always a good idea to talk to your dermatologist first before undergoing any type of cosmetic treatment.
Each session of skin needling typically costs between $250 and $450. These numbers could still change, depending on where you get the treatment done and what kind you sign up for: corrective needling or shallow skin needling. As the names suggest, the first one is for more severe skin issues while the second one is for more minor imperfections.
Not sure if skin needling is the right choice? Talk to our skin treatment experts here at The Temple Skincare & Spa. We’ll be more than happy to help you find the best skin treatment for your specific beauty goals.

Aside from excess sun exposure, nothing messes your skin up like junk food.
High levels of carbohydrates, salt and sugar not only cause dehydration, they also make your hormones go haywire, ultimately leading to conditions like acne and dull skin. These foods also lack the necessary nutrients your organs—including your skin—need to be in peak condition.
The fix? Cut down on your junk food consumption and introduce more nutrient-rich alternatives into your diet. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Add a squeeze of lemon juice, some cucumber slices or dunk in a sugar-free, caffeine-free fruit tea bag to add flavour.

Lack of sleep is not only bad for your health, it’s terrible for your skin. Aside from causing fine lines, dark circles under your eyes and lacklustre skin, it also interferes with your body’s natural ability to repair tissue damage.
If you’re not consistently getting between 7 and 10 hours of shut-eye a night, you’ll notice the toll it takes on your complexion.
Chronic stress makes your skin more sensitive and causes it to release more oil, ultimately making you more prone to breakouts and other skin conditions.
Unfortunately, staying away from stressful situations is not always possible. What you can do, instead, is find ways to de-stress regularly.
Meditate. Exercise. Spend a day at the spa. Take a few days off or find an activity to take your mind off the things that are stressing you out.
Aside from all the well-documented health risks that come with smoking, this habit also damages your skin in several ways:
The result, of course, is dull, old-looking skin.
This one’s pretty straight forward. As long as you use products to keep your skin clean, hydrated, moisturised and protected from the sun, you’ll be fine.
Talk to your dermatologist if you don’t know where to start. The experts at The Temple Skincare & Spa can help custom-design a skincare routine for your skin type and lifestyle, recommending the products which will work best for you.
If you want to see results faster, trips to your favourite skin care centre should also be a part of your routine.

Healthy skin does not have to be an elusive goal. When it comes to skincare, a day spa should be more than a luxury. Here’s how the professionals here will make a difference to your everyday complexion. Constant sun exposure and the stress of daily life take their toll on our skin. This complicated organ is fragile and needs careful attention to keep a fresh-looking and healthy skin.
While a good home skincare routine is essential, it should be complemented with regular visits to a skincare professional. Most people consider a visit to a day spa as an occasional luxury they might enjoy as a special treat. The truth is your skin can really benefit from ongoing, regular consultation with a local skincare specialist, and a day spa is the perfect place to find one.
Whether you have an existing condition or simply want to keep your skin looking healthy, it pays to seek professional skincare advice. In particular, people with problem or mature skin often have trouble because they don’t get consistent treatment.
Visiting a day spa gives specialist skincare experts the opportunity to assess you and alert you to any issues you may not be aware of. From there, they can help you come up with an ongoing plan to keep your skin looking its best. They will get to know you and your skin, and make recommendations on a long-term plan for your skincare.
If you already know your skincare goals, there will be an approach and treatment to suit your needs. At The Temple Skincare & Spa in Castle Hill, we have the training and experience to help you. Offered by qualified beauty therapists, our treatments can help with solutions for anti-ageing, loose skin and scarring to more serious conditions such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis or eczema.
Some of the treatments available at the Temple day and medi-spa can help reduce the effects of ageing. These work by removing damaged and dead skin and rejuvenating the skin through collagen stimulation, such as an anti-ageing peel. Skin needling, for example, stimulates tissue regeneration. It has been shown to make a difference by revitalising dull, lifeless skin. It is also helpful for treating wrinkles, open pores, pigmentation or scarring.
Other treatments, such as facials with peptide formulas, microdermabrasion, IPL and LED technology, will give immediate tone and radiance to the face. They also restore firmness and can make wrinkles less visible.
You don’t have to visit your day spa every week for these treatments but setting time aside for regular appointments will help you feel great about your skin year-round.

Healthy skin is supple and well hydrated. Yet, we’re often unaware just how dry our skin has become. A consultation with a skincare professional will help you assess your needs and find the best treatment to cleanse, detox and hydrate your complexion.
Take a look at our selection of facials available at the day spa, catering to all skin types. They range from a 30-minute Refresher Facial suitable for all skins, to the 60-minute Hyaluronic Collagen Infusion for dry, dehydrated mature skin.
Again, you don’t need to visit each week but having a regular session with a therapist who knows your skin will prevent problems and keep your skin looking clear and healthy.
De-stressing and finding the time to look after yourself is an important part of skincare.
Stress can release cortisol and worsen many ailments, including skin problems such as acne, eczema, rosacea or psoriasis. Day and medi spa treatments focus on treating specific medical issues but also on relieving tension.
Regular visits with a skin therapist can help relieve stress in your face and body and restore the natural balance of your skin. Temple’s Mindfulness Facial Treatment is a perfect choice to add to a wellness and skin health regimen. This facial is designed to refresh the mind, meditate and release the inner glow of your skin.
If you are suffering from more serious conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, eczema or acne, the Temple’s Medi-Spa is the place to visit.
A 45-minute consultation with one of our highly educated skin specialists will enable us to recommend the right ongoing clinical treatment for you. Our treatments, such as LED light therapy, IPL and Laser Skin Rejuvenation and Skin Needling are all aimed at helping you tackle these skincare issues with fast, noticeable results.

Electronic skin needling uses a revolutionary medical procedure that is clinically proven to stimulate natural tissue regeneration. This is called a collagen response. As the needles puncture the skin, your body goes into healing mode and two things happen:
This spa treatment can be used to treat a range of concerns such as wrinkles, crepey skin, open pores, pigmentation, stretch marks or scarring. It is available for clients of all ages.
At the mention of needles, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this procedure is painful and possibly even causes bleeding. Happily, neither is true (we wouldn’t recommend it if it were)!
The needles used in skin needling at our Castle Hill Medi Spa are microscopic and are gently rolled over your skin for under 30 minutes. The procedure causes little to no discomfort and only a temporary redness and minor swelling for a day. As the needles are applied over the skin, tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourage the skin’s own natural healing reaction. Meanwhile, you’ll notice astonishing results within four weeks and your skin will continue to improve over the following months.
Normally, your therapist will check and go over a few ground rules, like ensuring that you hadn’t had any filler or Botox for at least four weeks prior to the procedure. This is because cosmetic needling can break Botox or filler down and also potentially move filler around.
You can expect no soreness and no blood, but the skin will appear quite red and flushed only for a day or two.

So many facial skin treatments are available to help us manage our skin so we can feel more confident without having to wear a lot of makeup. These include dermal fillers, lasering, HIFU, LED and chemical peels.

After the procedure, your therapist will normally advise you to not use make-up on the treated area for 24 hours after, and a skincare serum will be recommended as part of the post-procedure skincare. Sunscreen with 50 SPF is to be applied from 12 hours after the procedure every day and to limit sun exposure for at least 28 days because the skin is very sensitive after the treatment.
In terms of results, skin needling, is like a “mini facelift” treating fine lines, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture. You can expect your skin to feel tighter straight away with the results becoming more evident around three-to-six weeks later.
Rest assured too that as stated in a recent study skin needling is a “safe, minimally invasive, and effective esthetic treatment for several different dermatologic conditions.”
If you research the technique, you’ll find plenty of peer-reviewed research, including this report which finds “micro needling is an effective modality of treatment.”

After the redness subsides, the treated area which may have appeared pretty dry before the treatment, will look really refreshed and smooth. And the results, as promised, will keep getting better.
For the best results from skin needling, the experienced practitioners at The Temple Skincare & Spa usually recommend one to three treatments, four to six weeks apart.
However, everyone has their own unique skin type. To determine the treatment you need, we will spend time with you to assess your skin and understand what you want to achieve. We can then ensure skin needling is the best treatment for you and determine how many sessions are required.

Significantly improving the appearance of facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles, sun damaged and ageing skin, acne scars and stretch marks has never been easier at The Temple as we have all the latest and greatest treatment tools in our ‘shed’. One of the ways we fight the war against wrinkles is with our innovative and award-winning non-surgical skin regeneration procedure called E-Dermastamp. This treatment provides advanced micro-medical skin-needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
The Temple’s E-dermastamp Collagen Induction Therapy + Scar Reduction Therapy procedure works by stimulating your own body’s collagen and breaking down scar tissue. Your body will start to naturally regenerate the skin, it will only take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration are seen & the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a gradual & long lasting enhancement. The Dermastamp also utilises INFUSE-AS-YOU-GO technology to instantly infuse anti ageing ingredients deep into the skin to give your clients an instant hit of stimulation.
The Dermastamp system is used to treat:
The Temples’ Dermastamp is a treatment using very fine needles. It is a medical device used in micro needling to break down old scar tissue & to stimulate skin cells to proliferate. This cell multiplication results in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibres as well as in new capillaries for an improved blood supply and more evenly spread nutrition to your skin.
The skin is cleaned and afterwards numbed with an appropriate numbing cream so it should not hurt at all. Skin is thoroughly needled in such a way, that each skin part is needled about 15 to 20 times. An even flushing is the best indication for a perfect medical performance.
For Collagen Induction Therapy we recommend to start with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 6 to 8 weeks between treatments. For Scar Reduction Therapy an average of 3 to 5 treatments are recommended, with an improvement of 70-80%. Unlike ablative procedures for facial skin only, the Dermastamp can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc).
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 24 hours on average. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend healing minerals, peptides and hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with zinc based sun screen. We also recommend the use of mineral makeup to help with the healing.
The Temple Skincare & Spa have dermal therapists who specialise in corrective skin treatments in our team, so rest assured you are in good hands to get that skin you deserve!
