Making Mum Everyone’s Priority

For All That She Gives, Seen and Unseen

There’s a quiet shift that happens in motherhood, and most women don’t notice it at first.

It doesn’t arrive suddenly or dramatically. It builds slowly, through years of caring, organising, remembering, and showing up. Often, Mums end up selflessly giving their all to others: their families, their partners, their careers, or the simple demands of everyday life. One day she’s making space for herself, and the next she realises she’s moved further down the list than she ever intended.

What's in this blog? Modern mums often carry an invisible mental and emotional load that can lead to exhaustion, burnout, and disconnection from themselves. This blog explores why many mothers struggle to prioritise rest and self-care, even when they need it most, and why small moments of support and restoration can make a meaningful difference. It also reflects on the emotional realities of motherhood, including constant caregiving, mental load, and the pressure to keep going, while gently encouraging mums to receive care too. Thoughtful Mother’s Day experiences such as facials, massages, body rituals, and restorative spa treatments are discussed as ways to help mums slow down, relax, recharge, and feel cared for again.

Not because she stopped caring about herself. But because there was always something, or someone, who needed her more. It is part of the kind of selfless love that only Mums can give.

Over time, she becomes the one everything, and everyone, depends on. The organiser of days, the keeper of routines, the emotional anchor, the one who notices what others miss. In many cases it is not even just the physical doing of everything, but the mental load that covers the day-to-day planning, worrying, and so on. And in all of that, her own needs become quieter. Less urgent. Easier to postpone.

And when she finally pauses long enough to notice… she might simply say, “I’m fine.” But often, "fine" is carrying far more than it lets on.

Motherhood is so fulfilling, yet there is no space to acknowledge that Mum, sometimes, can't do it all. Mums do need to take a break. In fact, me-time goes a long way in ensuring that Mum gets the care she needs, too.

mothers day

The kind of tired that doesn’t go away with rest

For many Mums, exhaustion isn’t just physical. It lives in the background of everything: in the constant mental tracking of what needs to be done next, in the remembering of small details no one else sees, in the emotional holding of everyone else’s needs.

Even in stillness, the mind rarely fully switches off.

This is what many describe as mental load, not one single task, but the accumulation of hundreds of invisible ones. It’s the reason rest can sometimes feel incomplete, even after a full night’s sleep.

And slowly, without realising it, that ongoing weight begins to show up in other ways. In energy levels. In patience. In the way she feels in her own body. In how long it’s been since she did something just for herself.

How self-care quietly gets pushed aside

It’s rarely intentional. Most Mums don’t decide to stop caring for themselves. It simply gets delayed. Postponed. Rescheduled for a time that feels easier… a time that often never really arrives.

There’s always a reason to wait. Something more important. Something more immediate. Something more deserving of attention. And so self-care becomes something that feels optional, rather than essential. Something that gets saved for “later,” even when later keeps getting further away.

At Temple, we would often hear our Mum clients say, “I think about doing something for myself… but it always gets pushed to another day. Once the school runs are done, the house is sorted, the work emails are cleared, and everyone else has what they need. There’s always something that feels more urgent, and by the time the day slows down, I’m too tired to think about myself anyway.”

After a while, this creates a subtle disconnection, not just from routines or habits, but from how it feels to be fully looked after.

We hear it often in the spa, “I keep thinking I’ll get back to myself eventually… but over time, it becomes easier to just keep going without it. Not doing things just for me starts to feel normal, even though I know it didn’t always used to be that way.”

In these moments of listening, each of us in the Temple Team understand more deeply why we do what we do... as Mothers as well, this is why our passion is to create moments for every Mum that walks through our door  make her feel like herself again... so that when she emerges from her Temple spa experience, she is once again ready to give fully from a full cup, and not running on empty.

What rest actually needs to feel like again

True rest isn’t just stopping. It’s being supported enough that she doesn’t have to keep thinking, planning, or holding everything together while she rests.

It’s the experience of letting go… even briefly, without needing to manage what comes next.

For some, this might look like a short pause where everything is taken care of for her. A gentle facial that allows her to switch off completely. A scalp ritual that quietens the nervous system. A massage that releases tension she didn’t realise she was holding.

For others, it might be something more immersive: a slower, deeper kind of reset where time feels less structured, and care becomes the only expectation.

Each year, within Temple’s Mother’s Day experiences, these moments are quietly built in different ways. Not as a “fix,” but as space. A space to soften, to breathe, and to return to herself without pressure.

Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just care, given fully.

The pressure to keep going (even when she’s tired)

One of the most common experiences among Mums is the feeling that there is never really a right time to stop. Apart from the fact that there’s always something that needs her attention, or that someone she loves who needs her care. There seems to be a list of things to do and tackle that isn’t finished yet. Even when the body is tired, the mind often continues to move ahead.

Not to mention there is often guilt or anxiety that comes with getting some free time for self-care. Among new Mums, there's always a corresponding worry of not doing enough, or not being enough of a Mum at all. And so rest becomes something that feels earned, rather than something that is simply, naturally deserved.

This way of living can quietly take its toll, not necessarily in dramatic ways, but in subtle ones. Less energy. Less space for joy. Less connection to herself outside of her responsibilities. It shows on the skin. All the lines, dullness, the lacklustre skin tome, even acne breakouts can be ways that the kin "speaks" to the invisible stresses of the body and mind.

A gentle reminder: Mum doesn’t need to earn care

One of the most important shifts that can happen is the understanding that care doesn’t have to be justified! It doesn’t need to be balanced against productivity. It doesn’t need to wait for everything else to be done. It doesn’t need to be reserved for when things are “less busy.”

Care is what helps her keep going… not something she needs to deserve.

Even a small moment of it can make a difference. A pause in her day. A treatment that allows her to fully switch off. A quiet experience where she is not needed by anyone else for a while. These moments don’t need to be large to matter. They just need to exist.

A Celebration of Mums

There is so much that Mums carry that often goes unnoticed. The planning. The remembering. The emotional presence. The quiet consistency of showing up again and again, even when it’s tiring. And yet, there is also so much beauty in that… not in the exhaustion itself, but in the depth of care behind it.

This Mother’s Day is a chance to acknowledge all of it.

Not just what she does. But who she is underneath it all: she is someone who gives deeply, someone who holds a lot; someone who deserves moments where she is held too. Moments where she doesn’t need to be anything for anyone else.

Treat Mum to a special moment of deep rest and nurturing with a Temple Mother’s Day spa experience.

An invitation to slow down (when she’s ready)

There will always be a never-ending list of things that every Mum has to do. Some, more than others even. And it is true that this is a beautiful expression of love... acts of service that make every home, no matter where that may be.

What role then, can each of us play in making sure that Mum is prioritised? Especially when Mum can not make time for that herself?  There is no pressure for change to be immediate or extreme. Sometimes it starts with something small like a decision to pause for an hour. A moment where she is cared for without having to manage anything in return. A gentle experience that allows her body and mind to settle at the same time.

Within Temple’s Mother’s Day collection, there are different ways this can look: from lighter restorative treatments to more immersive spa experiences designed for deeper rest and reset.

Sometimes the most meaningful gift is simply space to breathe again.

The Gut–Skin Connection: When Your Skin Is Asking for Something Deeper

The Gut–Skin Connection:

When Your Skin Is Asking for Something Deeper

What is the gut–skin connection? The gut–skin connection refers to the relationship between gut health, inflammation, and skin function. When the gut microbiome is imbalanced, it can trigger inflammation that contributes to concerns like acne, rosacea, sensitivity, and dullness.

Can gut health affect your skin? Yes. Research shows gut imbalance can increase inflammation, impacting conditions like acne, rosacea, and eczema.

What skin issues are linked to gut health? Acne, rosacea, sensitivity, dullness, and inflammation-related concerns.

How do you improve the gut–skin connection? By supporting gut health, reducing inflammation, and using skin treatments that strengthen the skin barrier.

There’s a moment that happens often in the treatment room: a client lies there, quietly frustrated. They’ve tried the products. The facials. The advice. And still… their skin isn’t responding the way they hoped.

Not because they’re doing something wrong. But because no one has shown them that real skin transformation is possible.

At Temple Skincare & Spa, this is where the conversation gently shifts. Our approach is holistic, never just attributing skin concerns as skin deep. We take into consideration nutrition, lifestyle and other factors including gut health to help you achieve your skin goals.

1 (18)

Looking Beyond the Surface

Skin is intelligent. It reflects what’s happening within us: our stress, our hormones, our environment, and very often, our gut.

What we’ve come to understand over the years is this: When the internal systems of the body are balanced and supported, the skin often begins to settle. When they’re not, the skin works harder to compensate and displays the internal stresses. This is what’s known as the gut–skin connection. Not as a trend, but as a relationship, one that exists between microscopic organisms and the skin.

Your gut plays a role in how nutrients are absorbed, how inflammation is regulated, how hormones such as oestrogen are filtered, and how the immune system responds. All of these processes, in their own way, influence the skin.

So when skin feels reactive, congested, or unsettled… it’s often not just about what’s being applied on the outside, it's often a mirror to what's going on internally.

2 (20)

The Science Behind the Gut–Skin Connection

While this way of looking at skin may feel intuitive, it’s also increasingly supported by scientific research.

What we now understand is that the gut and skin are connected through what’s often referred to as the gut–skin axis. This is a communication pathway between the digestive system, the immune system, and the skin. The gut–skin axis plays a key role in how inflammation and skin health are connected.

Within the gut lives a complex ecosystem of microorganisms, known as the microbiome. These bacteria play a vital role in regulating inflammation, supporting immune function, and helping the body absorb the nutrients the skin relies on to repair and renew.

When this ecosystem is balanced, the body tends to function with greater ease. But when it becomes disrupted, whether through stress, diet, lifestyle, or environmental factors, the effects can extend beyond digestion.

They can begin to show up on the skin.

Research has shown that imbalances in the gut microbiome may contribute to inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema and even accelerated ageing. This is largely due to the way the gut influences systemic inflammation and immune responses throughout the body. Basically, when the microbiome is imbalanced, we often see changes in skin barrier function and increased sensitivity.

For Rosacea specifically, triggers are often linked to internal causes of skin issues such as gut health and stress response.

In addition, when the gut barrier becomes compromised, sometimes referred to as increased intestinal permeability, it can allow inflammatory compounds to circulate more freely. The skin, being one of the body’s largest and most responsive organs, often reflects this internal stress through redness, sensitivity, congestion and signs of nutrient deficiency.

There is also a growing understanding of how gut health influences oxidative stress and nutrient absorption, both of which are essential for maintaining strong, resilient skin.

What this means, in a very real and practical sense, is that skin health is rarely isolated. It is part of a much bigger picture and that is why at Temple Skincare & Spa we treat the skin holistically through investigative internal and external factors.

What This Means for Your Skin

Rather than seeing skin concerns as something to simply treat on the surface, this research invites a more considered approach.

One that recognises:

  • The role of internal balance
  • The importance of reducing inflammation
  • And the value of supporting the body as a whole

Because when the internal environment is supported through whole nutrition and balanced eating, supplements and decreasing inflammation, the skin is no longer working against the body. It begins to work with it.

This is why holistic skin health looks beyond surface-level symptoms.

Untitled design (1)

When Skin Feels “Stuck”

We often meet clients at a point where their skin feels like it has plateaued. It may look tired, a little puffy, perhaps not as clear or as bright as it once was. There can be moments of sensitivity, unexpected breakouts, dehydration or a general feeling that the skin is no longer responding.

This can feel confusing, especially when effort is being made and you are investing in ingredients you think your skin needs because you have seen it on tiktok or Instagram. But what we gently explain is this: active ingredients are great but it's more about the quality, quantity and delivery system of that active ingredient…. Plus it’s often deeper than that, sometimes the body is simply asking for support in a different way… internally and holistically.

When digestion isn’t functioning optimally, the body may not be absorbing the nutrients that the skin needs to repair and renew. When inflammation is present internally, it most often shows up externally as redness, congestion or reactivity. And when the body’s natural detoxification pathways become sluggish, the skin can begin to carry that load.

Not as a fault, but as a signal.

The Often-Missed Piece

One of the most overlooked systems in skin health is the lymphatic system. It doesn’t have the same attention as circulation or digestion, yet it plays a deeply important role in how the body clears waste, manages fluid, and supports immune function.

Unlike the heart, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump. It relies on movement, breath, and gentle stimulation to keep things flowing. When this flow becomes slow or stagnant, the effects can be subtle at first. For example: a heaviness in the face, a little more puffiness than usual, or skin that looks slightly dull, even when well cared for.

Over time, the body simply becomes less efficient at clearing what it no longer needs. And again, it is the skin that first reflects this.

A Different Way of Supporting the Skin

At Temple, we don’t see the skin as something to “fix.” We see it as something to understand. This is where our approach becomes different, not because it’s complex, but because it’s considered and intentional.

Rather than layering treatments without direction, we take the time to look at how the body is functioning as a whole. We consider the role of internal systems, lifestyle, and the natural rhythms of the skin itself. Because when the body is supported, the skin doesn’t need to work as hard. It can return to doing what it was always designed to do: repair, renew, and protect.

This is why we also consider how the lymphatic system and skin work together to process inflammation.

Supporting the Body, Gently

There are times when the most powerful treatments are not the most aggressive ones. They are the ones that work with the body, that support its natural processes, that create space for it to restore balance. This is the intention behind our lymphatic-focused massages and treatments. Not to force change, but to support the body’s natural function and to encourage flow.

Not to overwhelm the skin, but to calm and support it.

Regular Gua Sha massage can help move the lymphatic system to detox and improve circulation, which results in glowing and healthy skin.

Lymphatic Glow package temple skincare & spa

The Lymphatic Glow Experience

The Lymphatic Glow treatment was created with this philosophy in mind. Even though in this particular treatment we are not performing the medical Manual Lymphatic Drainage technique we offer as an add on in other facials, this treatment is a package which is a beautiful introduction to Lymphatic Support work. It’s a combination of gentle, purposeful techniques designed to support the body’s natural detoxification pathways while nurturing the skin.

Through the use of LED light therapy, the skin is encouraged to heal and settle. With specialised lymphatic facial techniques, fluid movement is supported, helping to reduce that sense of heaviness or puffiness. And through the Sculpt & Slim body component, the body is given further support to release and rebalance.

Clients often describe a feeling that is difficult to put into words. Not just relaxation (though that is certainly part of it), but a sense of lightness. Of clarity. Of coming back into alignment.

When the Skin Begins to Respond

What’s beautiful to witness is what happens after. The skin begins to look calmer, clearer, more awake, less burdened. The skin will be functioning healthier and with less inflammation. But more importantly, the client feels different… There is a softness. A shift. A sense that the body is no longer working against itself.

And this is where real, lasting results begin.

In fact, at Temple, there is a variety of treatments for the face and body to help with Lymphatic Drainage and will suit your wellness journey. Some examples are the Lymphatic Body Massage; Body Buff + Lymphatic wrap with Bandage + LED; Lymphatic Dr Wrap + Herbal Bandages, the Sculpt & Slim Wrap; and add-ons like the Manual Lymphatic Drainage face massage to your facial and/or Lymphatic compression pants to your face or body ritual.

A Final Thought

If your skin has been asking for more… more clarity, more calm, more consistency, it may not need more products. It may simply need a different kind of support. One that considers not just what is seen, but what is felt, experienced, and happening beneath the surface.

At Temple, this is the work we are honoured to do every day. To guide. To educate. And to care for each client in a way that is thoughtful, considered, and deeply supportive.

Ready to Begin?

If this resonates with you, the Lymphatic Glow experience is a gentle and powerful place to begin. Not as a quick fix. But as a step toward supporting your skin, and your body, in a more connected, intentional way.

The Art of Slowing Down

February 17, 2025

The Art of Slowing Down

In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves rushing from one task to another, constantly juggling responsibilities and deadlines. But amidst the chaos, it’s crucial to take a step back and embrace the art of slowing down.

Prioritising rest, relaxation, and mindfulness not only improves mental well-being but also enhances physical health and overall happiness. At Temple Skincare & Spa, we believe in the power of self-care to help you reconnect with yourself and find balance. Here’s how you can slow down and invite more peace into your life.

1. Create a Ritual of Relaxation

Carving out time for daily relaxation can work wonders for your mind and body. Whether it’s a morning skincare routine, an evening bath, or simply sipping herbal tea while journaling, establishing a ritual allows you to pause and be present. Try incorporating calming elements like scented candles, soft music, or aromatherapy to enhance the experience.

2. Prioritise Self-Care with Spa Treatments

Sometimes, slowing down means allowing yourself to be pampered. Booking a facial or massage at Temple Skincare & Spa is an excellent way to reset and recharge. Our treatments are designed to alleviate stress, promote relaxation, and leave your skin glowing. Taking time for yourself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity for maintaining inner peace and overall well-being.

See our Service Menu.

3. Unplug and Be Present

The digital world keeps us constantly connected, but it’s important to unplug and immerse yourself in the present moment. Try setting boundaries with technology by dedicating at least an hour each day to being screen-free. Spend this time engaging in mindful activities such as reading, meditating, or enjoying nature. You’ll find that disconnecting from technology helps you reconnect with yourself.

4. Practice Mindful Breathing

Deep, intentional breathing is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to slow down. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, take a few minutes to practice deep breathing—inhale slowly through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and exhale through your mouth. This simple act calms the nervous system, reduces stress, and brings a sense of clarity and relaxation.

5. Nourish Your Body and Soul

True relaxation isn’t just about what you do—it’s also about how you nourish yourself. Eating wholesome, nutrient-rich foods, staying hydrated, and getting enough rest all contribute to a more balanced and peaceful state of mind. Pairing this with mindful movement, like yoga or a gentle walk, can further enhance your ability to slow down and appreciate the present.

Discover the Power of Slowing Down

At Temple Skincare & Spa, we’re here to support your journey toward relaxation and self-care. Whether through rejuvenating spa treatments, skincare rituals, or simply creating space for mindful moments, taking time for yourself is one of the best investments you can make. Finding Time for Self-care Amidst the Hustle

Finding time for self-care and skincare can feel like an impossible task for Mums. With endless to-do lists and demands pulling you in every direction, taking a moment for yourself can easily slip to the bottom of the priority list. But here’s the thing – self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential for your well-being and happiness.

Here are some practical tips on how busy You can carve out time for self-care and skincare in jam-packed schedules:

  1. Start Small: You don’t need hours of free time to indulge in self-care. Begin by setting aside just 10-15 minutes each day for a simple skincare routine. Whether it’s cleansing your face, applying moisturiser, or enjoying a quick face mask, these small moments of self-care can make a world of difference.
  2. Create Rituals: Incorporate self-care rituals into your daily routine. Maybe it’s taking a few minutes in the morning to enjoy a cup of tea while practicing deep breathing or winding down at night with a relaxing skincare routine before bed. By making self-care a habit, it becomes easier to prioritise even on the busiest days.
  3. Multitask Wisely: Look for opportunities to multitask and combine self-care with other activities. For example, listen to a podcast or audiobook while doing your skincare routine, or take a relaxing bath while catching up on emails or reading to the kids. Finding creative ways to integrate self-care into your daily life can help maximise your time. TEMPLE SKIN PRO TIP: For time-poor Mums, use an overnight masque packed with antioxidants and nutrients. Simply put on the cream at night and let it work its magic while you sleep!
  4. Delegate and Prioritise: Recognise that you don’t have to do it all alone. Delegate tasks to family members or enlist the help of a trusted friend or babysitter to free up time for self-care. Remember that it’s okay to say no to non-essential commitments and prioritise activities that nourish your body and soul.
  5. Schedule “Me Time”: Treat self-care appointments as non-negotiables in your calendar. Whether it’s a weekly massage, a monthly facial, or a solo walk in nature, block out time for yourself and stick to it. By treating self-care as an essential part of your schedule, you’ll be more likely to follow through and reap the benefits.

Here at Temple, we understand the challenges that busy Mums face, which is why we’re here to support you on your self-care journey. Our range of express treatments and convenient booking options make it easy for you to squeeze in some much-needed pampering, even on the busiest days.

Glowing from Within: Stress Management for Mum’s Skin Health

As a Mum, your days are filled with a whirlwind of activities, from managing household chores to juggling work commitments and caring for your family’s needs. In the midst of the chaos, taking care of your skin might seem like a unrealistic goal and task to keep. However, here are some helpful tips on how to keep your skin healthy, youthful and glowing in the midst of a busy schedule.

1. Streamline Your Skincare Routine

When time is scarce, simplifying your skincare routine can be a game-changer. Opt for multitasking products that offer multiple benefits in one step, such as a moisturiser with built-in SPF or a cleanser that also exfoliates. By streamlining your routine, you can save time without compromising on skincare efficacy.

2. Embrace Express Treatments

We understand that time is precious for busy Mums. That’s why in spa, we offer a range of express treatments designed to deliver maximum results in minimal time. From quick facials to targeted treatments, our express options provide a convenient way for you to indulge in self-care without disrupting your busy schedule.

3. Prioritise Hydration

Stress can take a toll on your skin, leaving it dehydrated and dull. Combat dryness and revitalise your complexion by prioritising hydration in your skincare routine. Incorporate hydrating serums, moisturisers, and sheet masks enriched with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to replenish moisture and restore radiance to your skin.

4. Incorporate Stress-Relieving Ingredients

Certain skincare ingredients can help soothe stressed-out skin and promote relaxation. Look for products infused with calming ingredients such as chamomile, lavender, and green tea, known for their anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. By incorporating these ingredients into your skincare routine, you can create a spa-like experience at home and unwind after a hectic day.

Not sure what skincare products to use? Sign up to a Virtual Consultation with your Temple Skincare Experts.

5. Practice Self-care Rituals

In addition to skincare, carving out time for self-care rituals can help alleviate stress and promote overall well-being. Whether it’s taking a relaxing bath, practicing yoga, or enjoying a cup of herbal tea, find activities that help you unwind and recharge. Prioritise self-care as an essential part of your daily routine, and watch as your skin and spirit transform from chaos to calm.

As a Mum, you deserve to feel nurtured and radiant, inside and out. By incorporating these skincare solutions into your daily life and shining a light on your own on self-care, you can reclaim your glow and navigate the challenges of motherhood with grace and confidence. In today’s fast-paced world, finding balance and taking care of ourselves can often feel like an uphill battle. As busy women, we juggle multiple responsibilities, from work and family to social commitments and personal goals. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and neglect our own well-being.

That’s why it’s essential to carve out time for self-care rituals that nourish our mind, body, and spirit. At Temple Skincare & Spa, we understand the importance of self-care, and we’re here to share some valuable tips and insights to help you find balance in your busy life.

1. Prioritise “Me Time”

One of the first steps to finding balance is to prioritise “me time” in your schedule. This can be as simple as setting aside 15 minutes each day for self-reflection, meditation, or deep breathing exercises. Use this time to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with yourself. It’s amazing how a few moments of solitude can rejuvenate your mind and restore your energy.

2. Create a Relaxing Environment at Home

Your home should be your sanctuary, a place where you can unwind and recharge. Create a relaxing environment by incorporating elements that promote peace and tranquility. Consider adding scented candles, soft lighting, and calming music to create a soothing atmosphere. At Temple we use the healing power of aromatherapy to create a mood of peace, of being cared for, of calming the mind, body and soul.

You can also, dedicate a corner of your home to self-care activities, such as reading, journaling, or practicing yoga. Having a designated space will remind you to prioritise self-care and make it a part of your daily routine.

3. Indulge in Spa Treatments

Treating yourself to a spa day is a wonderful way to relax and pamper yourself. At Temple Skincare & Spa, we offer a wide range of luxurious spa treatments that cater to your every need. From indulgent facials and body scrubs to various types of massages, our team of experts will ensure that every Temple experience is unforgettable. Take the time to indulge in these treatments and let go of the stress and tension that builds up in your body.

One of the most popular Day Spa treatments that our clients love is the Temple Signature Facial. Not only is is designed to hydrate the skin, but also for deep relaxation and de-stressing. This facial is performed slowly, rythmically and with pure intention to offer you the exceptional experience you deserve. Starting with a sensory journey, even the cleanse is performed like a massage intended to ‘arrive to the body with grace’ then the very last touch is ‘leaving the body with grace’.

4. Practice Mindful Eating

Busy schedules often lead to mindless eating, where we grab whatever is convenient without paying attention to what our bodies truly need. Mindful eating is about being present and fully engaged with your food. Take the time to savor each bite, appreciate the flavors, and listen to your body’s hunger and fullness cues. By practicing mindful eating, you’ll not only nourish your body with wholesome foods but also cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and your overall well-being.

5. Stay Active

Physical activity is not only crucial for maintaining a healthy body but also for reducing stress and improving mental well-being. Find an exercise routine that works for you, whether it’s going for a run, attending a yoga class, or dancing to your favorite music. The key is to choose activities that you enjoy and that fit into your schedule. Remember, self-care is not just about pampering yourself; it’s also about taking care of your physical health.

6. Connect with Nature

Spending time in nature has a profound impact on our well-being. Take advantage of the beautiful surroundings in Sydney’s Castle Hill area and explore the local parks, gardens, or nature trails. Whether it’s a leisurely walk or a picnic in the park, immersing yourself in nature can help reduce stress, improve mood, and increase overall happiness. Make it a habit to spend time outdoors and reconnect with the natural world around you.

7. Practice Gratitude

In the midst of our busy lives, it’s easy to focus on what’s not going well or what we lack. Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to shift our perspective and cultivate a positive mindset. Take a few moments each day to reflect on the things you’re grateful for, whether it’s a supportive friend, a beautiful sunset, or a delicious meal. By acknowledging and appreciating the blessings in your life, you’ll create a sense of abundance and contentment.

Finding balance as a busy woman is an ongoing journey, and it requires conscious effort and self-reflection. By incorporating these self-care rituals into your daily routine, you’ll not only enhance your well-being but also create a strong foundation for a balanced and fulfilling life. At Temple Skincare & Spa, we’re here to support you on this journey. Our team of experts is dedicated to providing you with exceptional experiences and helping you achieve your best self. Join us at Temple Skincare & Spa and let us exceed your expectations at every visit.

Remember, self-care is not selfish; it’s a necessary investment in yourself. Embrace the “Temple way” and prioritise self-care as an essential part of your busy life. You deserve it!

Self Care for Mums: an Ultimate Guide

Self Care for Mums: an Ultimate Guide

Self care for mums can be very challenging. From prioritizing sleep to taking a break when you need it, learn how to maintain your physical and mental health as a busy mum with this ultimate guide from Temple.

Being a Mum can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience, but in truth, it can also be exhausting and overwhelming at times. It can be especially challenging to find some resources for self care. However, taking care of yourself is crucial to being the best mum you can be.

Prioritise sleep

Getting enough sleep is essential for overall health and well-being, but it can be difficult for Mums who have to juggle various responsibilities. Try to establish a bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible. A good rule to follow for new mums is to sleep when the baby sleeps.

Make sure your bedroom is quiet, cool, and dark, and avoid using electronic devices before bedtime. It is not called “beauty sleep” for nothing either. A full night’s rest allows the skin and body to repair itself. Active ingredients from your skin care products also work better. It’s also to avoid dark circles under your eyes as well as to fight premature ageing. These might sound like unimportant, especially for a self-sacrificing mum, but taking time to value sleep and it’s benefits are important to your confidence and overall well-being.

If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, consider consulting a healthcare professional.

Stay active

Physical activity is crucial for maintaining good health, reducing stress, and boosting energy levels. Find an activity that you enjoy and make it a part of your daily routine. Take a walk with your baby, join a fitness class, or go for a swim. Sydney has plenty of beautiful parks and outdoor spaces that are perfect for exercise.

All Temple Skincare & Spa guests are also welcome to use the Hills Lodge pool. A great way to spend some self-care time is to have a facial or massage while the little bub/s and fam are busy with some poolside activity. And then join them for more bonding time fun afterwards.

Eat well

A healthy diet is important for maintaining good health and energy levels. Make sure you’re getting plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. Avoid processed and sugary foods as much as possible, and try to prepare your meals in advance to save time.

Especially if you are a nursing mum, you need nutrient-rich food to sustain you in all the long months of feeding.

Make time for relaxation

Stress can take a toll on both physical and mental health, so it’s important to take time to relax and unwind. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a bubble bath, or practicing yoga, find an activity that helps you relax and make it a priority.

With only a few tools, a self-care for mum routine is totally possible! Try to set aside 15-30 minutes of your time in a week to do a loving skincare routine or mini-facial.  Set the mood by lighting a candle. If you like, run a bath and use your favourite aromatherapy scent to instantly relax and clear the mind. Aside from initiating your much needed me-time, aromatherapy has many other health and mental benefits including reducing stress and anxiety, as well as relieving headaches and pains.

For your facial, cleanse with a gentle lather, rinse and follow with a nourishing serum to encourage your glow from within to shine through. As an alternative, try a hydrating sheet mask and then massage using a crystal face roller, gently but firmly, and using slow upward strokes over your chin, cheeks your temples and your forehead. Leave on for 15 mins and complete your mini facial with a moisturiser and SPF. Have another 30 minutes to spare? Nap under a Dermalux Flex to boost the results of your facial but also to treat some muscle aches and pains that you might be feeling.

Afterwards, there’s no question, you’ll be super recharged to face the challenges of being a mum everyday!

Connect with other Mums

Connecting with other mums can provide a sense of support and community. Join a mother’s group, attend a playgroup, or participate in a parenting class. Sydney has many resources for mums, including online communities, where you can connect with other parents.

Take a break

It’s okay to take a break when you need it. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, a massage or spa treatment can be a great way to relax and recharge. Treat yourself to a spa day or book a massage during your baby’s nap time. Seek help from your SO, friends or family to watch over the kids while you treat yourself an hour or two to feel spoilt and taken care of. The goal is to replenish your energies and to reclaim your Self with something special and therapeutic.

Family is a core value of Temple Skincare & Spa and so is exceeding your expectations. From the moment you walk down the jasmine-lined stairs to the spa, you will already feel enveloped with a warm welcome and a feeling of relaxation. Temple is a non-judgmental, safe and inclusive space where you can freely be yourself and enjoy in a stress-free time with YOU as the focus.

Each May for Mother’s Day, Temple prepares specially curated spa experiences in discounted packages that any mum (and budget!) will definitely love.

What about spending the day with your daughter (we also have tween facials for 12-15 year-olds for mums with young ones)? It will be a good time to bond over a relaxing spa date of facials, massages and maybe even a glass of bubbles by the pool.

If the hubby or your partner is wanting to give you a Mother’s Day gift but have no idea what to gift you with, try leaving hints by tagging him in our social media posts or leaving a tab in your browser of the spa package.

Always keep in mind that taking care of yourself is crucial for being the best mum you can be. Prioritising sleep, staying active, eating well, relaxing, connecting with other mums, getting a massage or spa treatment, and taking a break when you need it are all essential components of self-care. With these tips, you can put first your health and well-being, making the most of your time with children, family and all that you lovingly give of yourself to.

Massage: 7 Astounding health benefits

We all love massage but how does it benefit us? From lomi lomi massage and reflexology to stress relief massage and aromatherapy treatments; find out the real benefits of massage.

Massage is so relaxing and feels great but how does it really benefit you?

A great deal of study has gone into proving the benefits of massage and similar or additional treatments like reflexology and aromatherapy. While scientists say the positive side effects vary from person to person and aren’t easy to measure, it definitely has benefits for the body and mind.

Here are some of the ways you can benefit from the many massage treatments on offer at the Temple Skincare menu, which include stress relief, pregnancy massage, lomi lomi , hot stone, relaxation and even holistic massage.

  • Reduces stress. Lying face down forces you to be still and encourages you to forget about what’s troubling you. Taking time out to unwind and focus on your body can leave you feeling rested and relaxed, even after a one-hour treatment.
  • Helps you sleep. Now you’re feeling more relaxed, you will find it easier to drop off to sleep. What’s more, because you are no longer holding a great deal of tension in your muscles, your sleep will be more restorative.
  • Improve flexibility. A full body session feels great but did you know that a good leg massage can help your muscles to stretch and extend? With improved movement potential, you can achieve more at the gym or in your other workouts.
  • Relieve pain. Sore muscles can ruin your day. For many people with chronic conditions, this is the only way to find relief. If you’re suffering from an aching body, treat yourself to blissful relief from melting movements to gently rub away the pain. You may even find having a regular treatments can help reduce the soreness for the long term.
  • Alleviate depression. While it is always important to speak to your doctor if you are suffering from serious mental issues, a case of the blues can be minimised with professional kinetic therapies. For many people, the human contact and relaxed environment can promote feelings of well-being.

  • Boosts your immune system. Studies have found that it can actually help you by improving your resistance to coughs and colds. It is believed that stimulation of the lymph nodes, which takes place during a treatment session, can re-charge your body’s natural defence system.
  • Improve circulation. Science Daily reported in 2014 that massage therapy improves general blood flow and alleviates muscle soreness after exercise. According to a study, “The results also showed that massage improved vascular function in people who had not exercised, suggesting that [it] has benefits for people regardless of their level of physical activity.”

Which one is right for you?

Whether you want to relax or treat discomfort you can choose from the following:

  • Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Temple Massage. Very flowing, deeply relaxing movements originating from Hawaii. Your therapist will treat you with their arms and hands in flowing strokes over the body in what becomes a dynamic dance of life. It is described like it is a big long hug!
  • Native Oil & Hot Stone Massage. Melt away as your therapist uses the ancient art of stone massage and essential oils to soothe away tension. This unique modality with hot stones will bring about a sense of balance & well-being. This is extremely good for muscle aches, fluid retention, and tired stressed souls.
  • Aromatherapy Head, Neck and Scalp massage with Deep Conditioning Hair Mask. Kneading and rubbing the head and scalp is an age-old healing art form of holistic therapy. It allows for the relief of mental fatigue, the calming of thoughts and easing of stored tension. The warm hair mask will also invite your mind to relax and let go.
  • Relaxation Massage. Let the healing touch of our therapists move you into a deep place of relaxation. With flowing movements and gentle muscle manipulations, this treatment is sure to put your mind at ease and have you walk out floating.
